Workspaces

I was chatting with Donna this morning and we got to talking about workspaces.  I've seen so many miniature crafters on the Internet with the neatest and most organised workspaces you've ever seen in your life.  Some of them are so achingly stylish and beautiful with polymer clay organised into separate blocks of colour, bottles of liquid fimo displayed in a myriad of colours, carefully packaged trinkets and materials all in neatly labelled drawers... they could easily grace the pages of glossy magazines. I must admit I develop serious workspace envy as I look to mine with it's overfilled drawers full of random bits of junk I've collected but never used (and most likely will never use),  leaking bottles of liquid fimo, battered tools, emaciated soft pastels and a box of Fimo with more scrap bits than actual colours which would look more at home on the set of 1980s children's TV programme 'Trapdoor'.  I have accepted that I am a messy worker ... whenever I paint I usually end up with more paint on me than the canvas and cooking/ baking is no different! I like to call my style of working 'organised chaos' - I'm happiest when I get everything out and make a good old mess! :-)

Knitting Pretty

When I was in high school me and my friend Donna had this ingenious idea to make our own handbags from the back pockets of denim jeans.  We started out thinking we'd make something to make everyone in school gasp in awe at how cool and creative we were .. the only problem was neither of us could sew.  We both laugh now about those denim monstrosities caked in glitter glue with sea shells and our initials stitched onto them - I'm so glad they never saw the light of day! Sadly, I still cannot sew (and Donna may well kill me for telling the world about our failed handbag empire) but Donna can and she's just launched her own online business called 'Gracie Harry Baby' selling baby and childrens wear.  The business is still in it's early stages but please support her because she has an amazing talent and I'm sure you'll agree her creations are fantastic.  She is planning to sell customised clothing for babies and children, as well as bibs, blankets, baby gift sets, sock monkeys and cushion covers in the near future so keep a look out for those.  Please take a look at her Etsy shop and pop by to say "hi" on Facebook! She also has a really great blog too.   In the meantime check out some of her past work for a little taster of what she can do...

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my Dinky Diner Miniatures blog! In this blog I aim to keep you up to date with news, new items, special offers and competitions and hopefully in the near future I hope to create some mini food tutorials.

Over the weekend I have been busy listing new items in my Etsy shop.  I have just listed a delicious Chinese two-course meal set for four and items from my Halloween 2013 collection (which includes a range of 'spooky cookies' and a wonderful Halloween party buffet table).  Why don't you put the kettle on, pop your feet up and head over there for a little look!

I'm also running a giveaway competition via Facebook giving everyone a chance to win a 1:12 scale miniature roast chicken dinner set for four handmade by me and worth £30! All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is LIKE and SHARE the competition photo/status on my Facebook profile before 7th October 2013 when the winner will be drawn.  With Christmas around the corner it would be a wonderful gift for the miniature enthusiast in your life or even just a treat for yourself! Get sharing and good luck!!
